Best Ever Turmeric Latte

Ah the turmeric latte, or the Golden latte (depending on how snobby your café is)! What is it you say? Well, for peeps who just can’t handle the caffeine anymore, and who most certainly will not accept decaf in it’s place (seriously I tried that for the first time last week and thought I was drinking coffee scented dish water!) it’s a godsend. And you still get to go and meet people for coffee.

Turmeric, arguably the most powerful herb on the planet, has so many healing properties, that to date, there have been over 6,000 peer-reviewed articles published that have proven that. More specifically the articles were demonstrating the benefits of curcumin, the healing compound that turmeric is full of.

Add to that the following health benefits of cinnamon oil and you have one pretty powerful combination. Cinnamon oil;

  • Decreases inflammation
  • Increases circulation
  • Fights viruses
  • Fights free radicals
  • Relieves depression
  • Stimulates the immune system
  • Stimulates libido
  • Fights parasites
  • And you have a super charged latte at your fingertips!

As with all essential oils, cinnamon bark oil is much more potent than it’s dried counterpart and contains special compounds not found in the dried spice. Plus it smells absolutely freaking amazeballs! (Diffuse with wild orange for a year-round Christmas scent!)

** Cinnamon oil is considered one of the ‘hot’ oils and when used topically should always be diluted with a carrier oil. It’s always a good idea to patch test the use of any essential oil before it is applied to the main areas of the body. And in my opinion unless 1-2 drops are diluted in a carrier oil, I wouldn’t be using Cinnamon oil on my skin!

NOTE: And this is pretty darn important. Without a certain chemical compound – all that goodness from the turmeric we talked about earlier? Well it’s not exactly absorbed by the body. Unless it is paired with piperine. And where do we find piperine? In black pepper. Just a few cracks of freshly cracked pepper can increase the bioavailability ten fold.

{Makes 1 large mug or 2 small cups}

  • 300 ml Coconut/Almond Milk (or milk of your choice)
  • 1 drop doTERRA Cinnamon Bark Oil or the doTERRA Protective Blend (be very careful not to do more as it is a very hot oil and you only need 1 drop!)
  • 1tsp organic turmeric powder
  • Freshly cracked black pepper or 1 drop doTERRA Black Pepper Oil
  • 1 tsp raw honey (or maple/rice malt syrup)

1. Warm your milk to hot (but drinkable!)

2. In a large mug (or small jug if you’re serving two smaller cups), mix together the remaining ingredients and stir until a paste is formed.

3. Slowly mix in the warm/hot milk and enjoy!

Let me know if you try this? How do you use your cinnamon oil?

**It is very important to only ever use food grade, 100% pure essential oils for use in cooking. I only use and recommend doTERRA Essential Oils.
